"NEXT ON THE TEE": Newton Commonwealth

Newton Commonwealth

 USK Newton Commonwealth Tournament.
~
Well now that golf is fully underway we have been really busy.
My 1st US Kids tournament was scheduled for July 1st at Newton Commonwealth GC, in Newton MA.
Friday prior to that we drove down to my Uncle Steve's in Simsbury CT. since Dad and Uncle Steve had to go to a Bachelor party for Uncle Chris who lives in MA.
So we were busy all weekend but stayed at Uncle Steve's, Mom Mom was with us down there since Pop Pop was working in NJ and Mom Mom took care of us all 5 of us for the Bachelor Party.
Sunday night Pop Pop arrived and spent the night with there and then we all got up early Monday for our drive to Newton for Riley's early tee time.
Mine was a little later than his.
Dad Caddied for Riley, Pop Pop caddied for me.
I was paired up Harrison Choi from Newton MA. and Matthew D'Errico from Franklin MA.

I started off on the 1st with what seemed like an easy par and played pretty good on  number two and that continued "most" of the round.
I had a couple of holes where one bad shot compounded into a couple more before regrouping, but all in all I played pretty well and my short game was decent so I ended shooting a 78 which was good enough for the victory.
One highlight was on a tough 140 yd uphill par 3 on the back 9, it was two tiered green and the flag was just on the upper tier.

I hit my 6 iron to about 6ft and drained it for a birdie.

Riley ended up in 2nd place in his division and a write up will be on his blog later as son as Dad finishes it.

They took a picture of us in front of the Cabot Van before Pop Pop headed back home with it.

Thank the Lord we had an uneventful ride back home to Vermont, there was heavy rain and traffic all the way into New Hampshire on the way.

One day off and then I had a Coca Cola Junior Event scheduled  in Vermont Wednesday.
See write up for that below

VT JrPGA Event sponsored by Coca Cola
Taking Place at the Country Club of Barre.

The course has been deluged with rain all spring, but they have done a great job keeping it in good shape, especially on and around the greens, in low lying areas in the rough and fairways there is not much that can be done.

Beautiful morning, and the course was looking great

The course was still  quite playable given the lift clean and place rule in effect for the day.
I had an 8:09 Tee Time, which is not a problem when you live 3 miles away.
I was paired with L-R Ben Jerome, Aiden Melville, Me

I had my usual one or two bad holes but still managed 3 tweets,
and even with the couple bad holes I won my bracket with a 76.

I'm not playing in the Boston Tour Next week I have opted to stay in VT. and play in the State Pro-Am with my home Course Pro Roger King, aka "Mule"

I'll check back in after that.
Later
