Golf season is in full swing now and we have a minimum of 2 tournaments rounds a week, our Monday tournament this week in Boston was rained out (Thunder Storms) and we had another tournament scheduled in Essex Junction today (Wednesday), and even though it was raining today we got off right on our scheduled tee time at 9:40 AM.
“The Links” is a nice well maintained course in Essex and it is a challenging par 60 course.
I was paired with Alex Chin from New Jersey, and Aidan Melville from VT. whom I have played with before and it has always been a pleasure and today was no exception.
It was practically rain free on most of the front and then the rains came back in the form of a steady shower for a majority of the rest of the round, requiring umbrellas and rain gear.
I had a pretty decent front 9 where things were going as it should, no big mistakes to speak of, and the putts were finding the hole, even rolled in a couple of birdies.

I was playing along smoothly, and felt good about my game, and I was 2 over going into the 16th hole and figured I would cruise in with a good round, but no! “the golf gods” had other ideas.
Went on to Bogey 16,17, and 18 to finish with a 65, which was 1 stroke away from the low round of the day at 64, so I finished in 2nd place.
The round left me feeling a bit down since they were just simple mistakes which cost a couple extra strokes, but such is the game of golf.
Had fun just the same and we all shook hands and headed back to the clubhouse, post our scores and have some lunch before heading home.
Picture of threesome, L~R Aidan, Alex and me after coming off 18.
My next tournament is Monday at Gardner Park in MA. and then Green Mountain National Thursday down in Killington VT. for a Coca Cola Jr Tour Event.
Thanks to The Links and Coca Cola as well as Dave Christy and the VTPGA for running and hosting the event this week.
Later, Rocket Man
